We are a group/collective focused on exploring the meeting points between disciplines and cultures, and imagining new musical forms to reflect the aesthetics and multiculturalism of the Canadian identity with an emphasis on improvisation and individuality.

Modelled primarily on the approach of the Australian Art Orchestra, AMOT’s intentions are threefold, creating projects that focus on reimagining bodies of work, creation of new works that exhibit distinct artistic notions, as well as collaborations in cultural and improvisatory settings with members of the broader Canadian music community.

AMOT is thrilled to feature Esra Gurçay in a newly composed, multi-movement work that weaves together three powerful poems with a dynamic set of music drawn from jazz, folk, and art orchestra traditions.
