Hosted and curated by Jesse Ryan, a Trinidadian-born, JUNO Award-nominated saxophonist and leader of the The Kaiso Street Legacy Ensemble, whose main focus is presenting fresh arrangements of music from the golden age of calypso, re-imagined through the lens of modern jazz.

Rooted in storytelling and cultural preservation, the group bridges eras of Caribbean creativity through dynamic performances and musical excellence. Their current project reimagines the groundbreaking inaugural 1967 concert, Toronto’s first major Calypso showcase, bringing new life to the sounds that helped shape the city’s cultural identity.

The ensemble also features Steve Clarke on vocals, Alexis Baro on trumpet, Paul Tarusov on trombone, Ewen Farncombe on piano, Jullian Anderson-Bowes on bass, Amhed Mitchel on drums and Derek Thorne on percussion.
