Beyond the Basics Winter Tree Identification Workshop at Dempsey Park

Do you already have some experience identifying trees in the winter or looking for more practice identifying trees? Join us for our ‘Beyond the Basics’ winter tree identification workshop at Dempsey Park, where we’ll dive deeper into the details of winter tree identification.

We’ll take a closer look at trees outside in the park, as well as examples during our indoor instructional period, noting key identification features like bark, twig arrangement and winter buds. We’ll explore winter ID tools/resources and work through the identification of different tree species in Toronto.

This workshop will have an indoor instructional component as well as an outdoor component. Please dress for the weather to stay warm and prepare for uneven and slippery terrain. Tour distances will range from 1 – 5 km.
